The Metekhi church stands on a rocky cliff above the Mtkvari river in Tbilisi, facing the old town across the water, and it is one of the most recognisable views of the Georgian capital. Entry is free. The church is a short walk across the Metekhi bridge from the old town and the sulphur baths district, and walking tours of Tbilisi usually pass it on the way to the Narikala fortress, the cable car and the Rike park.

Sioni Cathedral, the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Virgin, stands on Sioni Street in the old town of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, near the Mtkvari river and the Peace Bridge, and entry is free. It was the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church for centuries, until the new Holy Trinity Cathedral was completed in 2004, and it keeps one of the most sacred relics in Georgia, the cross of Saint Nino.
